Taupiri School is governed by an enrolment scheme (school zone).
Round one intake for 'out of zone' students for terms 1 and 2 2025 is now closed.
Details relating to the second enrolment period are as follows...
Length of enrolment period: children starting from 14th July 2025 to 12th December 2025.
Deadline for receipt of applications: 30th May 2025.
Date of ballot if needed:3rd June 2025.
The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
Enrolment packs and out of zone applications can be collected from the school office. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
Home Zone
All students who live within the home zone described below shall be eligible to enrol at Taupiri School.
Commence at the railway crossing between Great North Road (SH1) and Tregoweth Lane and head directly east to Mangawara Stream. All addresses on Old Road are included. Follow the Mangawara Stream north to the intersection with Rutherford Road.
From the Mangawara Stream, follow Rutherford Road south to Orini Road. Addresses to 218 Rutherford Road are included in the zone. At the Rutherford Road and Orini Road intersection turn right into Orini Road and continue west to the intersection with Uapoto Road. Turn left into Uapoto Road and continue to the intersection with Henry Road. All addresses on Uapoto Road are included. The zone includes Henry Road to the west to number 504. Turn right into Henry Road and continue to the intersection with Gordonton Road (SH1B). All addresses on Davis Road, Komak Road and Enclave Lane are included.
Turn left into Gordonton Road (SH1B) and travel south east to 1659 Gordonton Road (SH1B) before heading south west to number 257 Dawson Road. No Lake Road addresses are included in the zone. From number 257 Dawson Road continue west to 196B Kainui Road. All addresses from 196B Kainui Road are included in the zone. At 196B Kainui Road continue west over the Waikato Expressway (SH1N) to 338 Driver Road. All addresses from 328 Driver Road are included in the zone.
At 338 Driver Road head north west to the railway tracks opposite 5287 Great South Road. No Jew Road addresses are included in the zone.
Follow the railway tracks south to the point opposite Starr Road before heading north west to the intersection of Old Taupiri Road and Jacobs Lane. All Wallbank Road addresses are included in the zone. No addresses on Kelm Road or Starr Road are included in the zone. At the intersection of Old Taupiri Road and Jacobs Lane head north following the Waikato River to return to the point adjacent to the starting point at the intersection of Great South Road (SH1) and Tregoweth Lane.
Addresses from 127 Old Taupiri Road are included in the zone. No addresses on Jacobs Lane are included in the zone.
Both sides of the in-zone roads above are included unless otherwise stated.
Proof or residence within the home zone will be required.
Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date which will be published on our facebook page and website. This will enable the board to assess the number of places which can be made available to students who live outside the home zone.
Out of zone enrolments
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information on the schools website and the schools facebook page. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
First Priority will be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme. This priority category is not applicable at Taupiri School.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority will be given to applicants who are children of former students of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to applicants who are children of Board employees and Board members.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group must be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary of Education under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
